I guess that you do like the multimedia side of Apple’s new geeky device. Well, who doesn’t? Anyways, I would like to review one of the Xilisoft’s latest software products, i.e. Xilisoft iPad Magic.
Though I wouldn’t count on Apple iPad’s audio capabilities, (however, it is admirable as well as dependable), I would definitely be delighted to express you that the video capabilities of iPad are excellent. You can’t deny the facts here, can you?
Its 9.7-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit glossy widescreen Multi-Touch display with IPS technology.
So, let’s move on to our review of Xilisoft’s iPad Magic Software.
This software is a new comer in the series of all those softwares which are emerging like soap bubbles to grab a fair share of people who are looking for the applications regarding iPad. Video and Audio conversion softwares are in the same league. But tell you what folks, you shouldn’t take it lightly when it comes to convert video and audio for such a high end and immersive device.
I’ll point out some major features that iPad Magic has to offer. After that, you’re the one to decide whether Xilisoft’s iPad Magic stands a chance in your ‘group of applications for iPad’ or not.
Here we go:
Interface
Isn’t this interface too simple and unattractive? Huh! Is it? Well, to be perfectly honest, I did think so! But then I thought to myself, would I prefer a fancy looking, heavily loaded interface? If I am in a hurry, then I don’t think so that’s a good idea.
I don’t want to jumble across several menus and buttons and options. Simplicity yet Elegance are what I need! Because I might not be working every time but I sure don’t wanna change the interface now and then. Hence the winner would be, ‘Simple yet Elegant’ looking interface.
Now lemme elaborate the interface.
-
The topmost bar shows you the status of your software. Right now (as I am writing this review), mine is unregistered version. You might be feeling a suspicion and curiosity rising inside you, regarding, ‘Why did I not buy this software myself?’
Well, there is a quite lame answer to that curiosity of yours, which I would like to tell you after we finish this review. So hang on till then.
-
Beneath it, we find the evergreen menu bar (I mean, it usually sits there in nearly every software).
You get File, Edit, Actions, Tools and Help choices there. That’s right. No messed up features or bumbling in settings or clicking throughout the menu items. ‘It’s plain and simple’. Boy, do I like that line or what!
Here’s the screenshot of what you will find under these menu items.

These are the default menu items and they won’t change to some other options when you select either an audio file or video. So you can get a pretty good idea from the images above of what you would be working with.
-
However, I have pointed out the features and options that will change once you click them one by one (very first image).
-
Remember that ‘little preview window’, I must say that it packs surprises with it.
- It looks like our little preview window wasn’t that ‘little’ at all. Since you’ve seen the picture, I must not explain the same things.
Now that we are familiar with the interface or ‘simple yet elegant’ workspace. I would like to add my views on how well this software works and how many formats it supports. After all, that’s the real information you were looking for, right?
Xilisoft’s Ipad Magic is a combination of iPad manager, iPad transfer and iPad converter and I must say that it is a very nice blend of three softwares. Now we’ll be able to manage, transfer and converter our data (video and audio) with the help of just one software. I was a bit worried about the start though, I mean iTunes does the same things, doesn’t it?
But when you come down to it, iTunes lacks some features and that can’t be ignored if we want a fully loaded application for our lovely device. iTunes doesn’t convert every format of my videos; it also doesn’t support every audio format. That’s why I am not a fan of iTunes. As a matter of fact, I wanted to ditch it as soon as I tried this software.
It supports 3GP, 3G2, ASF, AVI, DV, DIF, VOB, FLV, M2TS, MTS, M4V, SWF, MKV, DVR-MS, MJPG, CDA, MJPEG, MOD, MPG, MPEG, MPA, DAT, TS, MPV, NSV, MOV, QT, H261, H264, RM, RMVB, WMV, ASF, XWMV for video files and AAC, AIF, AIFF, AC3, APE, CUE, AU, FLAC, MPA, MP2, MP3, OGG, RA, WAV, WMA, CDA, M4A, MP4 for audio files. So, now I can convert nearly every format of video and audio that I have.
I really liked that we can connect all supported devices, iPad (all versions), iPod (all versions) and iPhone (all versions), and transfer the files simultaneously. I really liked the quality of videos after I converted them; after all, it depends on the settings you choose.
You can see ‘Profiles for Format Conversion:’ feature (in the image above). You can select preset profiles or you can click on settings and change the values to get the best quality conversion possible. However, I must tell you that ‘hit and trial’ method is the best method. Of course you have iPad just like others, but do you have the same amount of data and all? I highly doubt it! And that’s why you need to figure out your best values. You’ve got to do this once only. After that, you can apply the same setting with other videos as well.
It’s your iPad, remember? You CAN play with it and test with it!
One last point, if you do like iTunes that much (unlike me) then you should be pleased to know that Xilisoft’s iPad Magic supports iTunes version 9.1 or above. Hence, you can manage your files back and forth, means from iPad Magic to iTunes and vice versa. Isn’t that great? Though, it doesn’t make much of a difference to me.
System Requirements – No high-fi system is required. I guess that if you have the guts to buy one of the most impressive devices from Apple, then you must already have a system capable enough to convert the videos for you. But even if you don’t, you can always get your friend’s, can’t you?
In any case, here is what you must have in your system –
OS – Microsoft® Windows XP (SP2 or later), Windows Vista, Windows 7
Processor – 1GHz Intel/AMD processor or above
RAM – 256MB RAM (512MB or above recommended)
Free Hard Disk – 50MB space for installation
Graphics Card – Super VGA (800×600) resolution, 16-bit graphics card or higher
Others – iTunes 9.1 or above, DVD-ROM drive
