Sony Xperia Play Reviews are Out Now!

Although the Smartphone is still in development and not finished just yet, folks at MWC 2011 (mobile world congress) have got a hands-on review about Xperia play. Engadget has posted its review on the device and I am going to clear few points based on their review.

  • Xperia Play’s hinge is sturdier than PSP.
  • Old game titles run pretty smoothly.
  • Nothing can replace good old joystick.
  • Play gives a feel of our old gaming console.
  • Benchmarking cannot be done based on current games.

Xperia Play

Yeah! That’s pretty much the summary of the whole review. Now, here comes what I think about the phone. Let’s Start off with specification:

  • Processor : Qualcomm 1 GHz Snapdragon
  • Graphics chip: Adreno 205
  • Display: 4-inch multi-touch screen
  • Resolution – 854 x 480

  • Operating System – Android 2.3 Gingerbread
  • Camera – 5 Mega Pixels with LED flash
  • Other normal features that every smartphone has, like Bluetooth, WiFi, 3g, etc.

Now, aside this little summary about specifications, we are interested in gaming titles and it is reported that several big-shots are preparing their games to run on this Xperia Play to make this device a success.

These bullet points don’t take long to take a peek and by that, we come to know that Xperia has some really strong specs in comparison to PSP. Aside from 4.3-inch screen (Play has 4-inch), other specs are downright awesome for Xperia Play.

So, what rests are the game titles. Let’s have a look at some future gaming titles:

As read on Sony Ericson Xperia Play MWCNews

Leading franchises coming to Xperia™ PLAY includes EA’s Need For Speed, Sims 3 and a world-first multiplayer version of FIFA 10 for mobile. GLU Mobile/Activision will be bringing Guitar Hero while Gameloft’s titles include Assassin’s Creed and Splinter Cell. Sony Ericsson is also partnering with Unity Technologies, using its award-winning development platform, to ensure a continuous flow of high quality 3D game titles.

So, without a doubt, we do give Xperia Play some nice nod and if these announcements really hold their promises than Xperia Play might actually replace our good old PSP.
