Do swimmers live longer?

Do swimmers live longer?
Well… do they? That is a hard question and astupid one at that too! However, let us discuss about it, shall we?
I watched this show at National Geographicchannel about super-soldiers, people who were past the limits of normal humanslike an air force pilot, blackop, balaclava and navy seal. Out of all these, navy seal impressed me very much.
Then, I didn’t have to wait much longer, only 2hours, and another show popped up stating that beats of heart and life arerelated to each other.

Yeah… if you stop a heart beating… life willend?! However, that is not the point I was going to make here.
They said that ‘the heart gets worn out, if itbeats too much and eventually, the total life span of that being becomesshort’.
This theory is among many theories that claimto command the real theory of long-life. However, think about this, hummingbird’s heart beats 1260 times a minute and they die in 1-12 years (there aremany factors that command life span). On the other hand, tortoise’s heartbeat6-20 (depending on species) times a minute and they live for like more than 150years.
This is where my first paragraph relates tothis whole topic, ‘Do swimmers live longer?’ You see, to become a better swimmer, you have to learn how to hold your breath longer than anyone else does andseriously, there is no limit to how long you have to.
As you progress in your training for swimming, you learn how to breathe just enough to get your day going on. This is why; Ithink that swimmer can certainly live longer.
Controlled breathing (not forced breathing) canmake your heart work at an optimal pace and thereby increasing your life span.
“You are an idiot, you know that!”, after Ifinished telling my friends telling all of this. This is what they called me.“That sort of thing doesn’t work!”
May be they were right. However, what they didnot realize was ‘they were all swimmers’ and were ‘in perfectly good shape’.
So, do you think they will live longer than Iwill? I highly doubt that, because one of them has the habit of smoking like atruck, one of them drinks too much and one of them cannot stop eating junkfood!
All of these things are acting slowly on everyone of them. However, they do not realize it because after they are done with theirbad habits, they go for a swim and nothing matters after that. For some reason, swimming just clears them.
Anyway, they will eventually realize thatswimming is not the only thing they can count on. Therefore, I am going tostick with, ‘I am going to live longer than them!’
Swimming does help making your life span longerbut that is not the only thing you can count on. Pay a close attention to myexample.
That humming bird lives for only 1-12 years butlives an adventurous life, she can move from one place to another in a blink ofan eye, while on the other hand, grandpa turtle can barely crawl, let alonehopping in a blink of an eye. Therefore, it is up to you to choose what life doyou want. Adventurous or boring?!!
