How to Create an Impressive Blog?

[ad#300x250-box]
Blog is just another method of sharing your interests with your family, friends and other people. Unlike the social sites like Orkut, hi5, bebo, etc., you get the full command on your stuff and the sharing options.

Blog is very much like a website when it comes to appearance. It has a domain name, an extension like .com, .net, .uk, .co.in, .co.ca, etc., a nice colorful page, links which direct you to their respective contents, ad banners, etc.

But there is very great difference between a regular website and a blog which has made blogging much more popular than creating a website. It is the ease of creating and displaying new content.

If you already know a little about how website is created then you already understand the pros and cons of a website. To create a website you must know PHP and HTML coding. You must code every page of your website. Updating a website means a lot of hassle and changes in HTML coding so that everything looks proper.

You must also change the layout of your front page so that latest content is on the top. Hence if you are not into PHP and HTML coding then you’ll have to borrow the knowledge from someone and learn how to code WebPages or you can just invest some money and let him do the job for you.

But in case of blogging you just have to click on a button, that is New Post and then you can proceed to your heading and rest of article matter without having to get any knowledge of HTML coding or anything like that.

Blogging stuff works in this manner:-

1. Blogs have their own domain name and extension just like a website does. You can buy a domain name from several websites nowadays which offer domain name and extension in several options. Like for 1 year, 2 year, etc. and .com, .net, .info, .org, etc., respectively.

2. If you don’t want to invest money or you don’t trust blogging then you can try it on free blogging platforms. There are two most popular blogging platforms that are currently being used by millions of people, www.Blogger.com and www.Wordpress.com. These two websites offer blogging platform for free. They also provide free hosting for your blog materials like uploaded pictures, videos, etc.

3. There is just one problem with free blogging platforms. You are not allowed to use your unique domain name. For example, if you want your blog address to be called as fairlove.com then Blogger.com will change it to fairlove.blogspot.com and WordPress.com will change it to fairlove.wordpress.com.

4. Buying a unique domain name and extension adds a professional attitude to your blog. Hence your blog will get better exposure than other blogs, which are hosted and managed by free blogging platforms.

5. You should also buy a suitable hosting service. In simple words, hosting is just storing your data on a hard disk. It is practical to assume that you will not continue to work on your computer 24 hrs, hence if you host your blog on your server i.e. your computer then whenever your computer shuts down, then your visitors will not be able to access your blog. Currently there are several hosting services which are quite affordable, dependable and reliable.

6. Hostgator.com is on the top because it offers monthly plan for new bloggers who can’t pay for 6 months in advance and also for those who want to just try a hosting service for one month. It is not the cheapest, but when it comes to trial and satisfaction then Hostgator.com wins the bet.

7. Now that you’ve bought a domain name from, say namecheap.com and hosted an account with Hostgator.com, transferred your name servers addresses from your hosting service to your domain name service so that both of them are connected (this means that now if someone types your domain name in the address bar, then they will be able to access your data from your hosting service), you can successfully proceed to the next step.

8. Next step is to choose a blogging software which makes your work a whole lot easier or else blogging would become just as buggy as creating a website. Everyone out there recommends WordPress software for a blog because it is actually the best blogging software which is regularly updated and enhanced to make our blogging more fun.

9. WordPress software is free to download and is available on www.wordpress.org (not worpress.com that is a free blogging platform). Latest version is always shown on the front page so that you don’t have to mess around.

10. Now your job is to download a FTP Client software which can successfully install wordpress on your hosting service so that you can blog peacefully. Trust me, it is fairly easy than you can ever imagine. Filezilla FTP client is nice software to transfer themes, plug-ins, pictures, videos, etc.

11. When your blog is successfully setup, you’ve gotten just one chore to accomplish. That’s obviously clicking on New Post button and start sharing your stories, life style, stuff and anything you wish to share.

12. You don’t have to worry about updating your blog in a way that your latest content is on the top. Because that’s the most interesting feature of a blog, your latest post will be on the top automatically.

13. You can always add new themes, extra features using plug-ins, etc. and you don’t have to learn some boring coding or anything. All you need to do is upload the files via FTP client and wordpress software will do the rest for you.

14. So just keep posting friends and enjoy blogging.

Please feel free to comment and share your own views on blogging. I’ll be glad to help you out with anything under my ability.
