As you know that Firefox version 3.6 is ready to download, you might be wondering about its performance and need over other browsers.

Well, it’s been 10 years (yep, only 10 small years) that I’ve been using internet and I came across with several web browsers out there like Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Opera and Chrome. I figured that Firefox was the best browser among all other browsers. The ‘tab’ feature which has become quite old, as the time paced, was one of the greatest features that Firefox provided us. I didn’t operate any other browser back then (apart from Firefox and Internet Explorer), so I didn’t know much about that feature.

But as soon as I started to use it, my work on the internet became much more precise than ever. Now the days have changed, but I still like Firefox over any other web browsers.

Quite a few hrs ago, I read a post on PCWorld.com regarding Firefox 3.6. Well, the speed of browsers depends on several conditions. It can be internet connection’s speed, computer hardware, ISP, node location, etc. But when we compare both browsers at the same time on the same machine, they still differ in performance.

On my system which is just a normal Pentium D and 2 GB RAM containing desktop, Firefox 3.6 performs way better than IE 8 (that’s what that post was all about). All conditions are the same for both IE8 and Firefox 3.6 on my system.

Firefox 3.6:

1. Boots faster than IE 8.
2. Tabs open faster on Firefox.
3. It’s surprising but even Youtube videos buffer faster on Firefox 3.6 than they would on IE 8. I know that on this ‘note’ you would think that I’ve gone crazy and all that. But it’s what I see on my system.
4. Pages obviously load faster on Firefox 3.6.
5. I don’t care much about how my browser looks like. I mean the so called feature of Firefox, ‘Persona’ (theme), changes its looks. But when it comes to work, I don’t give a damn on what picture I’ve got at the corner of my browser.
6. But wait a minute; am I criticizing Firefox 3.6 for that feature? Nope! Because I may not be that creative sort of guy, but one of my friend does like this new feature. What I am trying to say is, for those people who have a creative mind and do care about how their browser looks like, will definitely ‘love’ this feature. And this feature is definitely not present in IE 8.
7. What did I leave now? I guess ‘security and privacy’!

IE 8 does have these cool features like ‘InPrivate’ and ‘Phishing Filter’, but ‘Firefox’ have got them too. I don’t know if Firefox’s ‘Private Browsing’ feature acts the way like IE 8’s does. Because when you open ‘Private Browsing’ on Firefox, it gives you a warning that although your pages are not being stored, but your ISP can still track the pages that you’ve visited. So if IE 8’s ‘InPrivate’ feature secures us even from our ISP, then I should give ‘Microsoft’ a big hand and if it doesn’t then both browsers score equal in this field.

So, I must say that I am very much impressed with Firefox 3.6 right now. It’s not any emotional attachment, as ‘the post’ (above) said, its pure fact and nothing else. Because come on, I am going to work on my system (at least now a days) and if Firefox 3.6 performs better then IE 8 then I am not going to open Internet Explorer 8 any time soon.
