Best DTH Service in India – Airtel Digital TV or Tata Sky?

[ad#728x90-banner-wide]
If you are a fan of television and I am sure you are (otherwise you would not be reading this article), then you might want to get rid of your local disc connection, that doesn’t work when you need it most. I am talking about weather problems in particular, whenever you want to get updates on current weather and it’s not good (you know that already but you want to know when it will be) and you switch on your T.V. and that familiar hazy screen glares back in your eyes and makes you to furiously press that red button to turn off the TV. Once again, you start to wonder that why did you not get a DTH connection?!

However, now we are moving to a new road of entertainment where we would not have to wait for any weather to clear up or other things that used to bug you too much. At this point, when there are several DTH Networks growing in India, you might be wondering as to which one is best and what you should take. I am still not quite sure as to which DTH service is great because I saw Tata Sky running on Bravia 26” and I wasn’t that impressed to get it right away. Anyway, I can assure you that there are definitely two services that are far better than others and you will not have any problems if you get one of them. The only chore that rests on your side is to decide according to your wallet, which one is fine for you.

These are the major players in providing DTH services in India:

  1. Tatasky
  2. Airtel Digital TV
  3. Reliance Big TV
  4. Dish TV
  5. DD Direct +
  6. Sun Direct

I have not arranged them in the order of their greatness; however, I did take care to list least favorite DTH operators in the end.

Tata Sky and Airtel Digital TV are at the top of our list and it is hard to decide which one is good. Both DTH operators are top notch and provide HD box option at a higher price. You can visit home sites for each DTH operator to get the information on their respective plans.

Personally, I’ve seen Tata Sky’s HD box perform as great as Airtel Digital TV’s. If you have a great Full-HD T.V., then you can have a wonderful high-definition experience if the channel provides it. Like watching Discovery HD on a 42” Sony Bravia looks amazing then on a 21” CRT.

I would not recommend the last two DTH Operators as they have the worst reviews possible for a DTH Operator. Top 3 operators have received significantly positive reviews than others. So, if you want to buy a DTH connection any time soon, then you should go for any of those top 3 operators mentioned above. However, you should look for offers and discounts when you actually make up your mind to get one. It’s easy to get confused when you have top companies rolling in for the same service.

I would like to tell you that if you are worried above customer care services then you should go for Airtel Digital TV as Airtel is famous for providing state-of-the-art customer care service and your problems (should they occur) will be solved within 24 hrs (that’s my experience with Airtel).

I have Dish Tru HD connection Rakesh and I am highly satisfied with it. I have seen Airtel Digital as well and both are 19-20 kind of thing. But I would never say that Airtel Digital is better than Dish Tru HD.

I have complete disagreement with you. I am a DTH user since only Dish TV was present with Rs 7000 cost of box having only Zee network channels. Since then used almost all operators here and there.

I would rate Dish TV on top in picture quality. No one is even near to that. their sd and hd both are outstanding. they beam on mpeg2 technology where compression is low and thus picture quality is far better than mpeg4 where compression is high. don’t fall under the gimmik of mpeg4 technology where operators complain that mpeg4 is better, this better for operators as they can beam more channels in lower bandwidh and save money.

dish has very poor customer service, but have changed very fast. any way i do not need to call them for any technical challenge in past 7 years.

tata sky is also good but airtel has pathetic picture quality. if you are moving from cable to airtel then you like that but if you are moving from dish tv to airtel you can easily make out the worse picture quality in airtel.

DD direct is free service and thus has limited channels. So must not be included in list.

Videocon d2h is not in the list. Their picture quality is also good. Not sure about customer service. Big Tv is from reliance so no comment…reliance is know =n for everything under table transaction and having bad products.

I do not agree with you because i had a airtel dth it is worst service provider i had a new connection after few days it stop working, after lots of complain there is no one who can rectify the problem, only every day calls come, that did your problem had solved when i told them problem did not solve they says some engineer will come but after 7 days no one had a time to come but there promises, i do not have any hope now but now thinking of tata sky. i only suggest you by my experience that please do not even think about airtel scrap Tv.
